Offset-like output, coupled with colour automation put new DocuColor range in a class of its own
Sydney, 1 February 2010: The divide between digital and offset is rapidly closing with a new range of production presses to be launched by Fuji Xerox Australia. As the sixth generation of DocuColor presses and with an impressive and proven track record for reliability, the new DocuColor 7002/8002 range features two key engineering changes that puts the product in a class of its own.
The new changes include a new ‘low gloss’ toner that delivers output with a matt, offset-like output and an inline spectrophotometer combined with the Automated Colour Quality Suite (ACQS) that enables auto-calibration, spot colour matching and advanced colour profiling. “These changes demonstrate our continued commitment to provide leading-edge solutions that meet the market demand for offset-like, high-quality, consistent digital colour printing,” said Henryk Kraszewski, the Production Colour Marketing Manager at Fuji Xerox Australia.
“With a total of 950 million pages printed on Xerox cut-sheet digital colour presses in Australia in the past 12 months, we continue to build on a foundation of strength and bring to market technologies that meet the ever increasing requirements for superior output quality and consistency,” added Kraszewski. “The new DocuColor 7002/8002 presses – like the Xerox iGen4 - utilise an-built spectrophotometer that dramatically changes the way digital output is viewed.”
According to Kraszewski, the spectrophotometer with the ACQS will radically improve image quality and consistency. “The DocuColor 7002/8002 have been designed to produce accurate, repeatable colour time after time. Print providers can now be confident that they can deliver printed output that will consistently match both past and future colour output.”
In addition, spot colours can be corrected automatically for further improved accuracy and repeatability while advanced colour profiles can be created for colour critical applications. “Once the colour profile has been created it can be used time after time without the need for re-programming” said Kraszewski. “The presses can exactly and continuously replicate colours when printing to standards such as AS/ISO or GRACol. The spectrophotometer will also significantly add to the efficiency and higher productivity in the print environment as it offers a ‘hands-free’, auto-calibration feature that eliminates manual intervention.”
Kraszewski said that the DocuColor 7002/8002 will help to address the two key challenges faced by print providers; reducing costs and finding new sources of revenue. “Firstly, automation, as provided through ACQS can dramatically maximize press uptime and secondly, prints that feature balanced neutrals, detailed shadows and highlights coupled by the matt finish, will enable print providers to compete more effectively against their offset rivals.”
The key markets that are expected to adopt this technology include Commercial printers, franchise and quick printers as well as bureaus. “The offset-like look and feel of the output – combined with the colour accuracy, consistency and repeatability – will be of immediate appeal to commercial printers,” said Kraszewski. “For the franchise and quick printers, the presses enable better competition against offset while its proven, robust and reliable platform will enable an easy transition to full-colour direct mail and transpromo applications in the bureau environment.”
“There is no doubt that the DocuColor 7002/8002 digital presses are built on a solid foundation of proven technology and like other engines in the range, are robust, stable and reliable,” says Kraszewski. “In addition, Fuji Xerox Australia provides unequalled technical support, including e-support as well as live telephone assistance and advice 24/7.”
With rated speeds of 70 and 80-ppm respectively, the presses can also produce two-sided prints at rated speed on all weights and sizes up to 300gsm, allowing operators to run basic jobs on common stocks or complex jobs on heavyweight stocks.
For those print providers who would like to explore new markets or simply add to existing services, Fuji Xerox Australia also offers ProfitAccelerator, the industry’s most comprehensive range of tools and resources designed to help them build their business and grow revenue and profit.
The DocuColor 7002/8002 digital presses are available for customer installation immediately.
