Fuji Xerox Australia awarded GECA Ecolabel for Sustainability.

Australia, November 16, 2010 – Fuji Xerox Australia has been awarded the Good Environmental Choice Australia Label for its ApeosPort III and IV and DocuCentre III and IV multifunction devices by Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA). It is the only vendor of multifunction device technology to receive this accolade in Australia.

The Australian Ecolabel Program has been developed for general compliance to ISO 14 024 and is managed by GECA, a not-for-profit organisation utilising independent, third-party registered assessors. The Good Environmental Choice Label is the only environmental program in Australia which recognises the "whole of product life" environmental performance of consumer products. It is only awarded to products that meet strict guidelines in sourcing, manufacture, ongoing use and recycling, as well as the lifecycle of the components used in the products. The GECA Ecolabel is part of an internationally recognised ecolabel body, the Global Ecolabellng Network, which with 40 members, is rapidly gaining prominence around the world.

This award, from an independent body, assesses a product’s environmental performance based on strict criteria. The Fuji Xerox ApeosPort III and IV, and DocuCentre III and IV products were assessed on criteria such as fitness for purpose, energy use, environmentally hazardous materials, emissions, noise, recycled parts requirements, packaging, and consumables.

In addition, in October this year Fuji Xerox Australia was announced as the winner of the Leading in Sustainability award at the 2010 Banksia Awards, Australia’s most prestigious environmental awards. The company has won the Leading in Sustainability award in the large business category for its achievements in economic, social and environmental performance.

The award ceremony acknowledges and celebrates Australia’s leading examples of innovation, passion and dedication, moving the nation to a more sustainable future.
