Fuji Xerox Sponsored Athletes on the Olympic Team for Athens 2004

Fuji Xerox Australia is very proud to announce that Petria Thomas, Jodie Henry and Alice Mills, the three swimmers that we sponsor, have all made the 2004 Olympic Swimming Team, heading to Athens in August.

Petria Thomas has returned from her third shoulder reconstruction to make her third Olympic Team – in the best times of her career.

• 100m Butterfly: Commonwealth Record in the Semi and again in the Final
• 200m Freestyle Final: Second place
• 200m Butterfly Final: First place
• 100m Freestyle: Recorded a time but withdrew before the semis
• 50m Butterfly Final: Commonwealth Record

Jodie Henry qualified fastest in the heats of the 200m Freestyle but withdrew before the semi-finals to concentrate on her pet event, the 100m Freestyle.

Jodie qualified fastest for the 100m Semi Final on Wednesday. She equalled Inge de Bruijin’s (just former) world record in the second Semi Final – with Lisbeth Lenton breaking the world record in the first Semi Final.

Jodie won the final on Thursday night in the 5th fastest time in history. Only Lisbeth Lenton and Inge de Bruijin have swum faster. Jodie now holds two of the fastest five times in history.

With her performances at the Olympic Swimming Trials, Jodie will also be in the 4 x 100m Relay.

Alice Mills was already the Commonwealth record holder for the 200m Individual Medley and broke her record in the semi final event on Monday evening. She was disappointed with her time and 2nd place in the final but still qualified for the Athens team with this place.

Alice came 3rd (just pipped by Lisbeth Lenton) in the 100m freestyle final and will also compete as part of the 4 x 100m freestyle relay team.
