It pays to digitise in the mortgage industry

It pays to digitise in the mortgage industry

This is a post from guest contributor Emma Morgan, Segment Marketing Manager, Services at Fuji Xerox Australia. Last month, Asia-Pacific Banking & Finance hosted the 5th annual Mortgage Innovation Forum in Sydney. As with The Future of Insurance conference I attended earlier in April, this event was filled with inspirational speakers and valuable insights on the innovations, trends and technologies affecting the mortgage industry. One of the key themes of the day was digitisation. This included: improving back-office efficiencies, transforming workflows from ‘front vs. back-end’ to a seamless end-to-end process, and enabling greater levels of data collection and analytics. All these processes will deliver a more seamless and enhanced customer experience.   Got …

The future of insurance – Does it lie with technology?

Connecting over the holidays

Connecting over the holidays

The holiday season is all about connecting with friends and family, whether at a BBQ at the park, drinks at the pub or at an intimate dinner at home. Nowadays, of course, these personal connections aren’t solely face to face. A variety of mediums, digital technologies in particular, have changed how people communicate and spread holiday wishes. How are you planning to get in touch with your friends and family this holiday? Greeting cards The first commercial Christmas greeting card was printed in 1843, selling just over 2,000 cards. Prior to this, cards were individually sketched or painted – making them too expensive for the general public [1]. Today, Australia is the third-largest per …

Discussing the sustainable business of law

Discussing the sustainable business of law

Sustainable business of law Earlier this year, we did some research into document processes and trends within the Australian legal industry, with a focus on small and medium firms. You can view the findings and the summary infographic here. To further our understanding of the challenges facing law firms, we recently held a roundtable event in Melbourne to further discuss the findings of this research and how larger firms are seeing these trends play out. Delivering better services through technology

Delivering better services through technology

How can you deliver better services to the community? How can you do more with less? Are you adopting new tools and platforms to innovate and lead your organisation to drive productivity? These are only a few of the questions which were heavily discussed and debated at the recent FuturGov Summit in Canberra, attended by leading government agencies from Australia, Europe and the United Kingdom. The discussion tables, panel sessions and notable keynote presentations focused on such key topics as mobility, cloud, information management, security, collaborative tools to drive productivity, emerging technologies, data management, the Government ICT reform and what’s bugging CIO’s. What stood out from the conversations I heard and discussions with …

Renaissance marketing – how art and science create the best results

Renaissance marketing – how art and science create the best results

Last month I participated in a panel debate at the ADMA 2012 Forum which put marketing at the centre of the discussion.  Is marketing an ‘art’ or a ‘science’ was scrutinised during this session. I, along with a number of other industry speakers was arguing that it is in fact a combination of both of these concepts that truly bring marketing campaigns to life to deliver meaningful connections with a the target audience. Art has always been a form of communication: whether that’s spreading the word of God, or setting societal standards of the time. In the late 15th century, art was largely funded by the church to drive growth of their constituency; …

Paper still the rule for Australian law firms

Paper still the rule for Australian law firms

Here at Fuji Xerox Australia we’re always trying to improve our understanding of the challenges being faced by Australian businesses. We recently completed research into documents and document processes within the Australian legal industry. This research, completed with Colmar Brunton,  shows that Australian law firms continue to rely on paper documents for the bulk of their work despite increased mobile work practices within the profession. A survey of over 100 Australian law firms (with 300 or less employees), revealed that 80 percent of firms still print some or all documents which they receive electronically while 79 percent use mainly hard-copies when exchanging documents. The main reasons given for printing electronically-received documents were force …
