Digitisation, Digitalisation and Digital Transformation Aren’t The Same Thing

Digitisation, Digitalisation and Digital Transformation Aren’t The Same Thing

What is the new digital age, and how does it change the way we work? For some, this refers to the advent of disruptive forces—mobile, big data, analytics, cloud and social—that are impacting enterprise technology and altering consumer expectations. But simply steering ahead of rapid changes isn’t enough; instead, businesses should consider adopting these very technologies to better engage their customers and embrace this digital revolution. That’s why digital transformation is now the buzzword hanging on everyone’s lips. It’s gradually being adopted by both smaller, nimbler businesses and larger, more established enterprises. Smaller offices are tapping on digital transformation to stay agile, while bigger companies use it to sharpen their competitive edge. In …

Trends To Watch Out For in 2019

Trends To Watch Out For in 2019

As our increasingly digital world changes how we work, businesses are constantly on the lookout for more ways to keep their operations lean; that is, to continue delivering value for their customers, while eliminating wasteful processes. With the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation—and their pivotal role in driving customer-centricity—this may very well be what 2019 has in store for companies looking to augment their digital strategy. But more than just ramping up their investments, businesses also need to make sure that the value of digital transformation is understood across the organisation. With that in mind, what will be the next wave of tech trends that would drive disruption in 2019? What …

Digital transformation delivering business efficiency (and other benefits)

Digital transformation delivering business efficiency (and other benefits)

In our recent survey by Fuji Xerox Australia of the small to medium business (SMB) community (February 2018, Digital Transformation in SMB) participants flagged that operational efficiency is their key objective for transforming their business. This is at odds with many articles which focus on larger enterprises. They emphasise the focus of business on improving customer experience. Interestingly, digital transformation is often able to provide both efficiency and improved experience. So how can a business become more efficient through digital processes? 1.Fewer manual processes. Just think of accounts payable where an invoice arrives via email or the post. Someone generally has to key the details into the accounting system, check to ensure no …

The State of Document Management in Education 2017/18

The State of Document Management in Education 2017/18

Following the 2017 Association of School Business Administrators (ASBA) conference, Fuji Xerox sent a survey to conference attendees asking for feedback on the state of document management in private education. The results provide some interesting insights into the challenges and trends being felt by schools and business managers. When asked to identify the top administration challenges faced by private schools, respondents noted reducing costs, growing student enrolments and increasing productivity as their top three challenges. A similar survey run amongst small to medium businesses also ranked reducing costs as a top challenge – showing that schools are not alone in trying to meet this demand.   Investment in digital transformation A consequence of …

Modernising your healthcare environment

Modernising your healthcare environment

Modernising your healthcare environment The Australian Digital Health Agency has set the strategy to create “safe, seamless and secure: evolving health and care to meet the needs of modern Australia.” This will drive the need for digital transformation across healthcare providers. What is digital transformation? The whitepaper, The Journey of Digital Transformation, notes that digital transformation is a complete change in the way that organisations conduct business, it is a change in people, process and technology with the aim of becoming more engaging, more efficient and more sustainable. While this may sound overwhelming, you do not need to transform everything at once, specific areas that you feel would benefit the most from digitalisation …

Is your digital transformation strategy up to scratch?

Is your digital transformation strategy up to scratch?

As crucial as physical documentation remains for some businesses, there’s no getting around the fact that digital transformation marches on unabated. In order to keep up with the modern operating environment, experts believe that shifting away from paper processes is more important than ever. “Reducing paper use has a tangible impact on business, from improved customer service to increased productivity,” says John Mancini, president of the Association for Information and Image Management (AIIM)[1]. “Business-at-the-speed-of-paper simply isn’t compatible with the modern digital enterprise and while we can’t eliminate paper altogether, we can all be much smarter about using less.” With sentiments like that, smart organisations looking to transition to a more modern document strategy …

How can Digital Transformation impact Customer Care?

How can Digital Transformation impact Customer Care?

Digital transformation is about adapting with the times and using technology to transform the way we work, and more importantly the way we engage our customers. Small is big Digitising paper workflows may seem like such a small and basic change, but it makes a major impact. Our research shows that 60% of employee time is spent working with documents and 15% of an organisation’s revenue is spent creating, managing and distributing documentation. Because digital transformation increases efficiency and productivity, it frees up the organisation to focus on what really matters—serving customers well. These are some key ways digital transformation can help your SMB shift from being product-centric to customer-centric. Efficiency Digitising documents …

How to begin Digital Transformation at School – after EduTech

No school is equal… Every Transformation is different   In all our time in working with schools it has become increasingly clear that no school is the same. Every school has different goals, different challenges and different priorities. That being said, all go through a remarkably similar process to tackle digital transformation, albeit with different processes and outcomes in mind. Last week at Edutech 2016 we presented the four, “not too simple” steps toward digital transformation to which just about any school can relate.  The reason I say they are “not so simple” is that at first glance it looks like a sensible linear approach to start digitising data and automating processes, but …

Step by Step Digital Transformation after EduTech

I loved Edutech this year with exciting presentations about how the digital world can change your brain (Baroness Susan Greenfield) and insights from students who have created their own apps/followers/companies all whilst studying for significant exams. But I was struck by the focus on classroom digital transformation. I do understand that that is where the school’s core business lies but digital transformation in administration is equally important and the flow of data and information between the two business areas is critical for improving student experience and learning outcomes. Imagine that your budding entrepreneur registers for your school and you have captured all that information upfront in your application process. Your teachers can create …

How Digital Transformation Elevates Education

How Digital Transformation Elevates Education

Digital transformation is a hot topic in any industry as companies pin their hopes in a “transformation” that will deliver efficiencies, cost savings and a better customer experience. Maybe these can be achieved but the reality is outlined in recent research by Accenture and AIIM* which shows that most companies are still largely “traditional” (paper-based processes). In fact that same research from 2015 stated that 15% of interviewed organisations had yet to begin a formal digital transformation journey. Education has a double challenge in running a two speed transformation across the business of education and across the business of administration. Whilst the transformation in the classroom is happening naturally, driven by digital native …
