We are committed to work with United Way through ‘Corporate Connect’, whereby teams of staff work directly with community organisations as volunteers. In 2010/11, eighteen Corporate Connect volunteering days were held nationally, ten in NSW and the remainder in Victoria, Queensland, ACT and Western Australia. Some examples of these activities include:

• At Learning Links in NSW our volunteers provided a splash of colour and light to freshen up their two classrooms and adjoining offices, providing a far more enjoyable space for the children and staff of the centre.
• At Integrated Family & Youth Services (IFYS) in Brisbane the FXA team turned a barren patch of lawn at an emergency accommodation centre for young people in to an edible garden that will give the IFYS clients the opportunity to grow their own herbs and vegetables and enjoy the experience of cooking and eating their own produce.
• Our Victorian Staff were involved in assisting Western Health’s Reg Geary House with a much needed garden make-over. This enabled the outdoor area to be improved and enjoyed by the elderly residents of this house. The team successfully created a sensory garden as well as repainted outdoor furniture and other general garden maintenance making the area a much more inviting place for the residents to spend time.
• Fuji Xerox staff in Western Australia renovated premises at the Carson Street School, which is WA’s only Primary Education Support School catering to students whose disabilities are such that they are not presently integrated in to the regular school system.
• Another NSW team volunteered at Centipede at Glebe School Inc. during the Summer School Holidays. This activity involved taking a group of 6-12 year olds out to play Put Put Golf for one their Vacation Care days. The teams involvement not only ensured the kids had lots of fun doing an activity they would otherwise not had the opportunity to take part in but also that they were exposed to positive adult role models helping to build their self esteem and self identity.
