Cornish College

"It’s not very often that an institution gets an opportunity to reinvent itself, but that is what happened to Cornish College in Melbourne as it passed from the auspices of St Leonard’s College to the Uniting Church.

The campus at the Patterson River site, called the Cornish Campus, opened in 1987, and since then has built on the original vision of its founder, Mr Richard B Cornish, to create a campus where young people can learn to live and work more sustainably.

Cornish College Principal, Mr Kerry Bolger, has been a driving force in the “reinvention” of Cornish College, and is confident the changes to the school will only enhance its academic achievements."

Dunmore Lang College takes a swipe at print costs

Some visions take time. The dream of the Presbyterian community in Sydney to open a residential college for young women at a university, first mooted in 1948, was finally realised in 1972 when Dunmore Lang College, named after the outspoken Presbyterian minister with a grand vision for Australia's future, was unveiled.

Genazzano FCJ College

The small group of Catholic Sisters from the Faithful Companions of Jesus could not possibly have imagined what would eventually become of their work when they travelled to Kew with colonial architect William Wardell to establish a boarding school for girls.

Genazzano FCJ College now boasts 1,130 students from Early Learning to Year 12. With so many students located on two campuses and a Boarding House, providing state of the art facilities is a considerable task for the college.

Loreto College Cooparoo

Loreto College Coorparoo for girls in Brisbane is justifiably proud of its history, which dates back to 1928, yet incorporates a strong historical connection reaching much further back in time.

The college’s founders were inspired by Mary Ward, a devout Catholic devoted to educating and caring for girls in the early 17th century. Now a worldwide community called the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (IBVM), Mary Ward’s charism was brought to Australia in 1875 by Mary Gonzaga Barry. Loreto schools are part of the IBVM international network of friendship.

With 700 students and a staff of approximately 120, the college requires a veritable mountain of educational resources, most of which needs to be printed on campus. The print room is called on to provide material from exams to study texts, brochures to newsletters.
