Pilbara Mining

Building a failsafe document system improves rail safety in remote regions.

The beautiful, but remote, Pilbara region of north Western Australia is home to some of the largest freight trains in the world, which are used to haul massive quantities of iron ore from the mines to ports for export to the world.

These privately owned rail networks are a key part of the major iron ore miners’ integrated production operations. The isolation of this region and the enormous scale of these trains necessitate that every facet of their operation is tightly controlled to ensure that safety is not compromised and the trains operate as required.
