FUJI XEROX AUSTRALIA RELEASES 2010 SUSTAINABILITY REPORT
DEMONSTRATES ABILITY TO GROW REVENUE IN DOWNTURN WHILE DELIVERING INCREASED ENVIRONMENTAL AND COMMUNITY COMMITMENTS
Sydney, 9 th September 2010 – Fuji Xerox Australia has released its 2010 sustainability report – an account of its impact and efficiency in delivering a sustainable business.
The report details Fuji Xerox Australia’s revenue growth over the 2009/2010 financial year, together with the company’s sustainability benchmarks, which positively impacted the environment, community and wider industry.
Amanda Keogh, manager of environment and sustainability at Fuji Xerox Australia, said, “At Fuji Xerox Australia we are proving time and time again that building a sustainable business doesn’t mean making compromises when it comes to revenue and profitability. In fact it creates opportunities.
“This report details the initiatives and achievements we’ve implemented and achieved, measured by an external auditor to a global sustainability standard. We have been trading for 50 years in Australia and continue to innovate and demonstrate leadership. This is our DNA. Our business is built on sustainability, which is key to our success.”
The 2010 Fuji Xerox Australia sustainability report found:
- community volunteer hours by employees quadrupled
- 42 per cent reduction in carbon from reduced staff travel
- 68 per cent of paper sales were recycled and certified paper stocks
- 25 per cent reduction in water usage
- 19 per cent reduction in waste going to landfill
- 15 per cent reduction in paper use.
The report also showed over the past ten years total revenues of AUD$240m were earned from the Sydney-based Fuji Xerox Eco-Manufacturing Centre. The initial investment in this centre was $22m.
Amanda Keogh said, “Fuji Xerox Australia has made substantial improvements year-on-year across all measures of sustainability. This year the company also received the Australasian Reporting Award for the transparency, detail and accuracy of its sustainability reporting. Furthermore, Fuji Xerox Australia received an Australian Business Award for environmental sustainability and was highly commended in the Business Sustainability Award at the Green Globe Awards for leadership in sustainability.
“We don’t just tick lots of sustainability compliance boxes. Fuji Xerox Australia is creating the boxes other companies need to tick,” she said.
